Cancers and other rare diseases are among the top 10 causes of death for children in the US, with an estimated 7,000 children lost every year.
Recent breakthroughs in cell therapy are transforming pediatric medicine, making cures once thought impossible now within reach.
- ACCESSforKIDS is a new model for biotech–designed for children, not markets. Our mission is to raise the capital, marshal the science, and build the infrastructure to rapidly move safe and effective cell and gene therapies from clinical trials to standard treatments, available to every child who can benefit.

Crystal Mackall, M.D.
Founder and Director
Crystal Mackall MD is the Ernest and Amelia Gallo Family Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Stanford University where she directs the Stanford Center for Cancer Cell Therapy and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy. Dr. Mackall has pioneered CAR T cell therapies for cancers in children and adults and co-founded Lyell Immunopharma, CARGO Therapeutics and Link Cell Therapies. She is a Member of the National Academy of Medicine.
Catherine Bollard, M.B.Ch.B., M.D.
Founder and Director
Dr. Bollard is a distinguished physician-scientist developing cell and gene therapies for patients with cancer and underlying immune deficiencies. She is Senior VP, Chief Research Officer, and Director of the Center for Cancer and Immunology Research at the Children’s National Research Institute and Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University. Dr Bollard is a past president of the International Society of Cellular Therapy, and the Foundation for the Accreditation for Cellular Therapy (FACT) and member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the Association of American Physicians.
Alan Wayne, M.D.
Founder and Director
Dr. Wayne has played an instrumental role in advancing CAR-T therapy for pediatric hematologic malignancies. He currently serves as Pediatrician-in-Chief at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, Chair of the Department of Pediatrics and Professor of Pediatrics, Medicine, and Cancer Biology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, and Medical Director of the Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia & Lymphoma Consortium.
Helen Heslop, M.D.
Founder and Director
Dr. Heslop has pioneered adoptive immunotherapy treatments for Epstein-Barr virus-induced disease. She has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine and is the former President of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy (ASGCT).
Sam Blackman, M.D., Ph.D.
Founder and Director
Dr. Blackman is a distinguished scholar and industry leader in oncology. He led the early clinical development of more than 10 novel cancer therapeutics and has expertise in commercializing pediatric oncology assets and bridging the industry “valley of death.”
Surajit Sen
Founder and Director
Mr. Sen has over 24 years of experience providing professional services across the Life Sciences industry. He has extensive experience in consulting Fortune 100 biopharma and biotechs across every aspect of the advanced therapeutics value chain.
